Aywayk is built around people who know how these journeys work on the ground: route timing, altitude rhythm, vehicle standards, lodge realities, and the small operational decisions that make a private expedition feel calm rather than improvised.
From planning to final confirmation, the goal is simple: keep the journey clear, well paced, and confidently handled.
Aywayk is a Bolivian expedition house focused on privately organized journeys across the Uyuni Salt Flat, South Lipez, and selected Atacama–Bolivia crossings.
Our roots go back to 2007. Since then, we have planned and operated journeys for couples, families, photographers, and small private groups looking for a more considered way to travel through Bolivia’s high desert.
Our work has also supported international productions, Travel Professionals & Institutions, including the BBC’s Top Gear and the French television programme Pékin Express.
Our name is inspired by Quechua, one of the great Andean languages.
Ayway means “to go” or “to leave,” and the expression Kunan aywayku carries the sense of “Let’s go now.”
We shortened it to Aywayk to keep that spirit of movement while giving it a distinct identity of its own — direct, grounded, and closely tied to the landscapes we work in.
We focus on private expedition formats only, with journeys typically ranging from one to five days depending on the route family, access structure, and the pace you want on the ground.
Our core route families include:
Each route is built around dedicated 4x4 operations, carefully matched lodge standards, and the option of English- or French-speaking guiding when required.
Aywayk is not built around volume. It is built around route clarity and on-the-ground discipline.
The point is not excess. It is to keep the journey stable, coherent, and well paced across a region where logistics matter.
These routes move through fragile landscapes and living local territories. Our approach is to operate carefully: respect the pace of the region, limit unnecessary impact, and keep travelers informed about how to move responsibly through the environment.
We also stay available for last-minute operational support when timing, weather, or transport conditions change.
We reply by email and WhatsApp, and can arrange a video call when useful.
